Hui Ming Tak Ted earned his B.A. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and his Ph.D. from Harvard University. His research interests include late imperial Chinese literature, print history, theatrical culture and the representation of ethnic others. His recent publication is “Journeys to the West: Travelogues and Discursive Power in the Making of the Mongol Empire” (2020), which explores how the rhetorical strategies employed in two 13th century travelogues laid the foundation for political discourse affirming the Mongol-Yuan dynastic legitimacy. His translation of The Readability of the Past in Early Chinese Historiography, in collaboration with Wen Tao, was published in 2016. He served as a research assistant in the Research Centre for Humanities Computing at the CUHK and was responsible for creating the Multi-function Chinese Character Database. He also worked in HarvardX and the China Biographical Database Project (CBDB).
